Mad Minutes Sent Home Today

Mad Minutes will be sent home today to be signed.  Student’s had 2 minutes to solve 30 multiplication problems.  This has a grade on it, but will NOT be put in the grade book.  It was a practice.  We will practice a few more times, and then the grade will be placed in the grade book.  Please make sure your child is studying their multiplication facts.

March 1-5

Math Learning Goals:  2D & 3D Shapes

3.6A(R)- classify and sort two- and three-dimensional figures, including cones, cylinders, spheres, triangular and rectangular prisms, and cubes, based on attributes using formal geometric language.

3.6B(S)- use attributes to recognize rhombuses, parallelograms, trapezoids, rectangles, and squares as examples of quadrilaterals and draw examples of quadrilaterals that do not belong to any of these subcategories.

Math Homework:
1. Math homework is sent home on Fridays and is due back the following Thursday. Homework will be due on Thursday, March 4.
2. Please study your MULTIPLICATION FACTS. We will have a Mad 2 Minutes on Thursday. Students will have two minutes to solve 30 multiplication facts. This is not for a grade this week. However, in the future this will be for a grade in the grade book. Please be studying! We will set goals each week to improve fact fluency.

Science Learning Goals: Food Chains

3.9B – identify and describe the flow of energy in a food chain and predict how changes in a food chain affect the ecosystem such as removal of frogs from a pond or bees from a field.

Math Learning Goals: Comparing Fractions
3.3F(R)- represent equivalent fractions with denominators of 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 using a variety of objects and pictorial models, including number lines.

3.3G(S)- explain that two fractions are equivalent if and only if they are both represented by the same point on the number line or represent the same portion of the same size whole for an area model.

3.3H(R)- compare two fractions having the same numerator or denominator in problems by reasoning about their sizes and justifying the conclusion using symbols, words, objects, and pictorial models.

Math Homework:
